Optimized for Light-Colored Filament

The dragon egg looks best when printed in lighter filaments such as white, pink, clear, or gold, which allow light to diffuse gently through the shell. Darker or tri-color silk filaments tend to obscure the internal glow and are not recommended.

Compatible with Multiple Bulb Types

This design supports four different lighting options, giving you flexibility depending on what you have on hand or your preferred lighting style:

• Maker World MH001 Maker Kit: A USB-powered module with adjustable brightness, ideal for low-heat, low-voltage setups. Great for beginners or as a simple plug-and-play option.
• BA15s Bulb: A traditional bayonet-style bulb commonly used in automotive and household applications. Offers a warm, broad glow and is easy to replace.
• G4 Bulb: A small bi-pin halogen or LED bulb known for its compact size and bright output—perfect for delivering strong light in a small space.
• T10 Bulb: A tubular bulb often used in car lights and accent lighting. Ideal for a slender, more directional light source.

The 12v DC BA15s, G4 and T10 bulbs are all available from almost any car parts or www.aliexpress.com, personally I bought mine from aliexpress as they are relatively cheap.

Nozzle Compatibility

• Prints cleanly with a 0.4mm nozzle, providing smooth surfaces and good structural detail.
• A 0.6mm nozzle can also be used, though minor gaps may appear in the shell. These gaps actually enhance the lighting effect, creating subtle highlights that add to the magical, cracked-egg look. Still, users should be aware of the difference.

Multiple Plates Included

The print profile includes separate plates: one for the main egg and additional plates tailored to each supported bulb type. In total, only two plates need to be printed—making it easy to customize the print to your chosen lighting setup.

Commercial License Included

This model includes a commercial license, so you're free to print and sell physical copies.

Assembly Tips

• Use a low-wattage LED bulb for safety, especially inside enclosed prints.
• Ensure correct polarity when installing bulbs, especially with DC-powered options.

Assembly Instructions

If you are using the MH001 maker world component it is just plug and play, if you are using one of the bulb options then the following steps apply.

You will also need:

• Lamp cord switch
• M3 nuts
• M3 6mm bolts
• M3 10mm bolts

Step 1

Take a regular 230/110 AC to 12v converter and cut into 3 parts.

You will not need the jack plug, but keep it as it may come in handy.

Step 2

Attach the two remaining wires with a lamp cord switch.

Step 3

push the exposed wires through the light base.

Step 4

Attach your chosen bulb cap, ensure the correct polarity for the wires and secure the wires with M3 bolts.

G4 - 2 x M3 nuts and 2 x M3 6mm bolts required.

T10 - 2 x M3 6mm bolts required.

BA15s - 3 x M3 nuts, 2 x M3 10mm bolts required.
