The Ultimate DIY Overhead Camera Setup
Print Profile(2)

Description
This fully modular top-down camera rig is designed to be strong, adaptable, and easy to build using 3D-printed parts and standard aluminum C-profiles.
Whether you're filming overhead videos, doing stop-motion, or setting up a product photography station, this system gives you full control over size and layout. The aluminum C-profiles allow for scalable height and width depending on your workspace.

Edit 18/08/2025: STEP files are now included!
Edit 25/10/2025: Lots of people asked for parts for ½ inch profiles so I redesigned most parts and made a new upload:
Please note that someone in the US tested the fit for me but I can't garantee that it will work for everyone because there aren't ½ inch profiles in hardware stores in Belgium where I live. The new parts are based on this product photo:
The design includes:
- 3D-printable table clamps with TPU pads for grip
- Corner joints for 90° connections
- Universal mounts for cameras, lights, or phones
- Adjustable modules that slide along the horizontal rail
- No supports needed for most parts
- Optional end caps for safety and a clean finish
- Optional to fasten with M4 bolts and threaded inserts
Watch the video I made about this project:
All parts are designed to work together with my other modular tripod and rig systems. Check them out below:
