Im a hobbyist with ambitions. You can find me here and on other Platforms. My main Platform is TikTok. The time for my Website is rare so please do not expect too much updates. On TikTok you should find daily videos about 3d printing and my Journey! Please consider following me and keep asking questions, i will try to help everybody as long as i am able too!
A Catheter Clamp maybe a small and cheap article but not for All.
If you want to buy a Catheter Clamp cheap you need to buy them on a large scale
but most of the people do not need thousands of this items, so prices are relatively high.
I designed and published 2 Versions of this item, once the Standard Catheter clamp, nearly
similar to the ones you can buy. But even for poorer regions of this planet the material costs
can be reduced way more, so there´s a second Version of this clamp in the second profile!
The second Version is designed in cooperation with David from Zois-Shop. He helped me with the
even cheaper and more cost effienct model of this clamp.
Of course you can buy these on Ali-Express or your local medical dealer but out there are regions that do not have access to this services or where delivery will took way too long. Now these simple and cheap medical and laboratory equipment parts are easliy to be printed.
I tested a lot of materials and calculated the costs for various options:
Printing Option 1:

Standard Catheter Clamp, printed in PLA plastic will need 4,4 gr. of Material an 29 Minutes to print on an A1 mini. I optimized everything for the mini cause it´s the cheapest and most reliable printer you can get. I think if someone, for example in africa uses a 3d printer an A1mini will be the absolute sweetspot for medical equipment. If you use cheap PLA plastic you will have a cost of around 8-10$/Kg, so you will get at least 200 clamps out of 1 Kg which means around 5 cents per clamp, without electricity.
I tested the following Materials to their suitablility, stability and flexibility for this print:
| PLA | PET(G) |
eSun PLA Basic, black - suitable Kingroon PLA, purple - suitable Jayo PLA white - suitable Recyclingfabrik, germany, PLA orange (milder Sanddorn) - suitable eSun PLA+ brown - NOT suitable Geeetech PLA Bonewhite - suitable SunLu PLA HS, Blue - NOT suitable BambuLab PLA Basic, green - suitable BambuLab PLA Basic, Hot pink - suitable Kingroon PLA Silk Triple Color - suitable Geeetech PLA transparent - suitable | Form Futura PETG Signal white - suitable Kingroon PETG white - suitable Kingroon PETG silver - suitable BambuLab PETG HF, white - suitable
eSun PET, blue - NOT suitable |
This list is not the ultima ratio but can help with selecting the right materials and is valid for both options!
Printing Option 2:
Thanks to David´s Idea i cut off the model so it can be printed nearly completely without supports! It´s a bit uncomfortable in handling, look strange and maybe is not the original product but it´s more eco friendly, faster to print and saves even more time, electricity and material!

This ptimized Variant of the clamp uses less material, only 2.9 gr. an 20 Minutes, what raises the effiency of one spool from around 200 clamps per spool up to 340 clamps. Thats a raise of 70% in effiency and a price reduction to around 80%. Is that much? Not much material but maybe in developing countries a game changer.
Important Notice:
I tested this hundrets of times! Please do not change the print profile, do not make any changes to orientation of the clamps on the printbed. This print is optimized to be printed in PLA or PETG, PET is too sturdy, ASA,ABS are also too sturdy and will break! The clamp will also break it you change the orientation on the printbed, cause the layerlines will build weak points. This is a verry small print, it maybe not look verry good on the downside when printed, i know this, and i know how to change this, but thats not part of the game!
This design is made to be as cost effiecent as possible to help people who are not verry rich or do not have the chance to buy this cheap or need to produce as cost effienct as possible. With this design i think about people in developing countries, for them this print may be helpful. YOU may find this unnecessary but when you are not able to order enough umbilical cord clamps or get them delivered as fast as you need, this print will be more helpful with beeing there than beeing beautiful, when a baby comes.
ALSO! This thing is reusable a lot of times if you do not force it to break!
This is an umbilical cord clamp, meant for one time use, but can also be used for catheters or other laboratory hoses that needs to be clamped. Of course in PLA this is not an item that can be sterilized correctly, so do not use this to clamp wounds, venes or other bodyparts that can be infected. Keep in mind that PLA has a pourus structure that will be a good breeding ground for bacteria. If you use this directly on humans make sure to keep that in mind and do not risk lifes or infections cause of greedyness!!!

If you like my work there are a lot of way how to support me!
The easiest and most direct way is to leave a boost…
Boost Me (for free)
The most easy way to support me and my work! Due to the many boosts i recieved here i was already able to safe my printers and my supply of spare parts more than one time! You keep me running and every single boost helps! Let me thank you all for your consideration!
You can also support me with a membership! They start at the lowest tier possible here on makerworld. For just 3 bucks a month you can force me to continue uploading more and new models ;-) I wouldn´t be able to leave a month without new models when there are people who support me with their hard earned money… LoL therefore im to well educated ;-)
Also you can use my Amazon links in the descriptions, when i tell which Filament i use! Links like this here:
But the most convenient way to support me, without paying anything is to follow me on TikTok, leave some likes, share some videos and spread the message that im there!
If you are a designer, you can also contact me to show your models, if you are a shop or manufacturer feel also free to reach out! Im here to show people the beauty of 3D printing and sharing my journey in this hobby. Showing off what others can do is also part of the game! Support ist kein Mord! (support is no murder, we say in germany)
