Sept 17, 2025 - Added a separate print profile for an improved adapter for a standard mason jar. It includes a small lip inside so the jar fits better.
June 15, 2025 - Added a print profile for a funnel with a larger opening. It seems to help dispense the candy more consistently (but it's still not perfect, unfortunately). Give it a try if you're having issues and don't want to print a whole new Candy Dispenser v2.
Do you enjoy eating candy? Then you'll want to print this Mason Jar Candy Dispenser!
This is based on a design I made in wood shop class a million years ago. This model fits wide mouth and standard mason jars (note: use the included adapter for standard mason jars).
It's fun to keep around the house or office and it even makes a great gift! We've tested it with M&Ms, gumballs (½" or ~13mm), Skittles, jellybeans, etc.
Protip: the parts fit together better if you let them cool completely before assembling.
Note: If your printer can't maintain the tolerances in the model and the internal parts fit too tightly, try the profile titled, “Larger Clearance Parts." These two pieces should slide in much easier.
Available adapter rings for different jars:
- Regular and wide-mouth mason jars (included in original models)
- 82mm twist-off (aka, lug) adapter (print profile added May 25, 2025)
- 77mm EU adapter (print profile added May 29, 2025)
- Talenti pint-size gelato container (print profile added May 30, 2025)
Disclaimer: I know y'all are going to destroy me in the comments and ratings, but the larger candies (e.g., Peanut M&Ms) will sometimes all try to fall into the hole at once and then nothing can get through (i.e., Three Stooges Syndrome). Just give the dispenser a gentle shake and that should get things working smoothly again. I tried to adapt the design to account for it but I think it's just physics. A proper solution probably requires an overhaul, so that'll have to wait for v2.
Here's a short video to help you out with the assembly process:
