Description
Cactus Cat Self Scratcher / Self Groomer
Bring a slice of the desert into your home with the Cactus Cat Self Scratcher! This quirky, cactus-shaped toy gives your cat a fun way to satisfy their scratching instincts. The built-in pot lets you add catnip, with small holes in the cactus body releasing the scent to lure your feline friend into play. This Cactus is a charming addition to any space that keeps your cat entertained and well-groomed!
New Magnetic Version (Recommended)
I’ve upgraded the Cactus Cat Self Scratcher with a magnetic mounting mechanism! This new version uses two pairs of round 6x2 magnets (CA004) to securely attach the cactus body to the pot base, offering easier assembly and greater durability. It’s our recommended choice for most users due to its improved design.
Dull Spikes Update
Frequent comments suggested that original version had too sharp spikes - a new update adds profile with dulled spikes for those that like to play it safe. The tip diameter has been increased by 50% making the spikes dull, but not so dull that cats would get bored.
Original Snap-Fit Version
The original version features a snap-fit joint to connect the cactus body to the pot base. It’s still perfectly functional (mine hasn’t broken yet!), but the snaps can be delicate, especially when printed with materials like PLA Silk or if layer adhesion is weak. It’s a solid option if handled with care.

Assembly & Mounting
For Magnet versions: place 2 6x2 round magnets on the backside of the cactus and inside the planter pot. The hole for the magnets is very tight, I recommend using flat-nose pliers to install the magnets (or use one size smaller magnet and glue it in)
- Mounting: Attach to a clean, dry vertical or horizontal surface using either strong double-sided tape or use the mounting holes in the back
- Catnip Setup: Fill the pot loosely with catnip—the scent will escape through the cactus holes, naturally drawing your cat in. If they’re shy, sprinkle a bit more catnip on the spikes to kickstart the fun!
- Placement: Position at your cat’s shoulder height for easy access. Give them time to explore—the aroma does the heavy lifting!

Printing Recommendations
- Supports & Brim: No need for supports, however the brim is enabled for cactus in order to avoid warping of side spikes.
- Filament:
- Cactus Body: Print with basic PLA (e.g., BambuLab PLA Basic Bambu Green).
- Pot Base: Use standard PLA (e.g., BambuLab PLA Basic Brown).
- Post-Processing: Remove brim carefully and sand rough edges for a smooth finish.
For Magnet version: remember to insert magnets in the correct orientation!
For Snap-fit version: do not print using regular Silk PLA and make sure to insert the pot straight onto snaps.
Happy Printing and watch your cat fall in love with their new desert buddy!
