Description

Update 24-6-2026

hi all after some qeustions about other sizes i have made a singel universal fan holder, its a holder that fits 120mm fans or smaller to 80mm and in between.

and if you got the screws that come with the fan you can use those screws to fix the fan in place in the holder now.

Hi all,

After many trials, errors, and prototypes, I’ve developed an improved universal fan holder for absorption fridges.

In this project file, you'll find two versions:

  • A dual 80mm fan holder for smaller vents
  • A 120mm fan holder for larger vents

One major improvement, in my opinion, is moving away from heat inserts. Instead, this design uses only nuts and bolts, which makes assembly easier and also simplifies production for you.

Universal Fan Holder – Assembly & Print Guide

This fan holder can be printed in PETG or ABS, as the temperature behind an absorption fridge is too high for PLA. Both PETG and ABS provide the necessary heat resistance and durability for this application.

Connector Box for 80mm fans not the 120mm fan

The design includes a small box with a lid, intended to house a JST-XH 6-pin (2.54mm pitch) male connector on one side, and a JST-XH 2-pin (2.54mm pitch) male connector on the other. Each connector can be secured in place using an M2 bolt at the back.

Inside this box, you can solder the connections between the power supply and the fans. For the wiring to this box, use the female versions of the same connectors.

Print Settings

  • Infill: 20% (any pattern is acceptable)
  • Walls: 3
  • Top & Bottom Layers: 4
  • Supports: Yes — needed for small overhangs (such as the hooks) and bridges in the fan holder

Required Tools

  • 1x Allen key (hex key) for the panhead screws
  • 1x Hobby knife (for cleaning and trimming printed parts)
