Swappable Wax Stamp (parametric)

A wax stamp with swappable inserts that can easily be edited. The inserts are locked in place by a screwable cover.

Model Description:

This is a variant of my Swappable Stamp model more oriented towards wax stamping. Check the base model out if you are more interested in ink stamping.

The fusion file is provided would you want to adjust the tolerances, see how it's done or simply edit the model easily. I also re-created the insert model in openscad to easily customize it with a SVG (easy to do, look in the zip file).

Printing information:

• Prints all parts in the same orientation as they came
• Print the 3 main body parts and the inserts you like
• As the wax can be hot I recommend to print the insert in a more heat-resistant material like ASA, the main body parts can be printed in regular filament like PLA.
• No supports are needed
• Ironing (with the 3d printer) the top surfaces of the inserts will improve the stamped results.

I provided a blank insert, you can simply add your wished symbol into it with a depth (by default) of 2mm. This can, naturally, also be done via the fusion and openscad files directly of course.

I never did this before but to give it a try I melted some candles with a lighter to make a wax puddle. Build up some layers by letting it cool down in between. When satisfied with the thickness, add wax a last time to soften the whole and press your stamp in before letting it cool down and removing it slowly. If you want, you can use the stand as a wax mold (print it in ASA then as well). The results would be better with specially designed wax, but it works.
