Description

I want to be able to manage my filament as easily as possible. Therefore, all spools should have an RFID tag, like the ones from Bambu Lab.

I don't know yet which management software I'll use, but I wanted to be able to print the refill spools with the option to do so in mind so I can use them later.

The available print files for reusable spools didn't have a suitable place to attach an RFID tag. At least, I couldn't find such a file.

So I took the spool I liked best and added a space for an RFID tag to each half of the spool. The tag area is recessed by 0.2 mm on the inside, so that even with a tag attached, the filament doesn't stick to it. A sticker, such as one with the OpenSpool logo, can be applied to the outside. Alternatively, the RFID tag can also be applied here. The diameter of the tags or stickers is 25 mm.

The areas for the RFID tags are modeled opposite each other in the lower part of the spools, so they don't interfere with the tags from the Bambu Refill spools. These are positioned on the refills so that they are always in the upper part of the spools.

It can happen that the AMS stops briefly at the tags when inserting a new spool, but I haven't noticed any problems. The AMS recognized the original Bambu tags without any problems on all spools with Bambu Refill and the attached tags.
