Description
Warning
This case is intended for use with the Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen (2024 edition), the 7-inch display model. I haven't tried it but it might work with other Kindle models, there are a lot of variants out there with small but significant differences.
There are two different top covers, a regular one with nothing on it, and a second one imitating the front of the leather-bound book of Mistborn: The Final Empire.
Instructions
Material: I printed this in PLA, and this works fine (see pictures), but I suppose PETG or something else would work too.
The bottom shell is a very tight fit, but my print fit on the first try.
- Print the bottom shell, top cover (the version you like) and 7 hinge links.
- Place the hinge-links between the hinges of the bottom shell and thread a piece of 1.75mm filament all the way through
- Position the top cover between the link hinges and thread another piece of 1.75mm filament through all the way through
- Heat up a knife and press the side of it against the ends of the filament to slightly melt and flatten it. This will make it wider so it cannot slip through the holes anymore.
- (Optional) There is space for four 5x2mm magnets, two on the bottom shell and two on the top cover, glue them with super glue in place.
Remix differences
I couldn't find a booklet case for the 12th Gen Paperwhite so I remixed this one and make it bigger so it fits. I also love the Mistborn leatherbound book design, so I made the custom top cover.
I hope you like the model, please post pictures of you prints!
