Ultimate IKEA Skadis Headphone Holder with Integrated Shelf

Upgrade your IKEA Skadis pegboard setup with this sleek headphone holder, purpose-built for function and style. Designed to accommodate headbands up to 60mm wide, it keeps your headphones safe, secure, accessible, and off your desk.

This model also features an integrated mini shelf – perfect for organising stray cables, adapters, or other small essentials that typically clutter your workspace. It also looks damn good, with headphones on, if I say so myself.

Key Features:

  • Compatible with IKEA Skadis pegboards
  • Supports wide headphone bands (up to 60mm)
  • Built-in shelf for cable management or accessories
  • Minimalist design to complement any setup
  • This mount has been strength-tested with a 1 kg load when printed in the recommended orientation using PLA @ 15% cubic infill. The shelf will likely only take couple hundred grams static load akin to a typically printed Skadis shelf.

Assembly & Removal of Supports:

Supports
Each Skadis hook will have supports for obvious reasons. By now I would hope you have access to some needle-nose pliers so that you can accurately take them apart. It's a snug fit so sometimes, depending on your printer and filament used, you may get some of the interface layers of the support left over. Again, nothing needle nose pliers can't fix, take off what you can, and scrape the rest of.

Assembly

Assembly is super simple. Just put the rear tab of the shelf through the headphone mount's rear cut-out at an angle and slowly rotate the shelf until it nicely clicks into place.

Important Print Notes:

Don't change the orientation or supports unless you know what you're doing – For maximum strength, it is essential to print this model in the orientation provided in the downloaded print profile. Changing the orientation—especially printing it upright—can significantly reduce structural integrity due to filament layer direction, which is a limitation of filament-based 3D printing, not the design itself.

Not yet tested in PETG – while PETG may improve durability and flexibility, I may need to make slight tolerance adjustments to the model to account for PETG’s shrinkage characteristics.

Very good holder and model overall - rounded at right places, lock of a tray is good designed. On photo, you can see the result of the first print of this model. Only thing that I modified is that I made hooks and part of a wall printed hollowless, because in my expirience SKADIS hooks are tiny and need to be printed as solid as they can to be reliable, not sure if this is necessery - done it just in case. Compatible with Sony WH-1000XM4. The model looks extra crisp in yellow. Printed with BambuLab PLA Basic, on A1 Mini printer. I can recommend this model, good job!

In a forest of headphone holders you found and chose mine! Thank you very much for your kinda words! You’ve brought up a good point and I suppose it depends what you print with? Is it just standard PLA? Nothing wrong with it at all but PLA+ and PETG will have enough strength that you don’t need to print the hooks solid. Anyway it looks great on the board!

I used BambuLab PLA Basic for printing. Previously, I encountered issues with this type of hook on other SKADIS models while using PLA Basic, which led me to modify it. I think this modification might not be necessary for your model. I did it because I try to avoid wasting plastic on tests, especially since I only needed a single stand. Anyway, you did a great job, and I can't wait to see what attachments you come up with next!

Headphone Holder
Printed this to hold my headphones on my Skadis board that I put in my RV. The only problem I had was the road was extremely bumpy and the headphones bounced off the holder, but our AirPods stayed in the tray. So, we decided that we would stick to paved roads from now on. The lip on the headband holder was just what I was looking for & did the job as I was expecting. I’m very pleased with this holder. Thank-you!

🤣🤣🤣 This will likely always be my favourite review. What a test! I really appreciate that my headphone holder has been put through its paces! Shall we make an alternate version off-road / RV edition for you?

So kind of you to offer an alternate version. If you want to make a “RV” version, I would suggest that the headband lip be about the same as the tray lip or a smidge taller. I picked your design because of the lip for the headband & bonus points for the tray that held our 2 AirPods. My headphones were happy to stay in place once we turned back onto the paved road. I was impressed with the way the Skadis pegboard adaptors for 3M Velcro held up. I just need to find a better holder for the tablet (the one I found, the hooks weren’t long enough) & a holder for my JBL Flip 6 (holder is ok for stationary only).

Really a very good holder, I was looking for something where I could store my earbuds in addition to my overhead headphones and this did it exactly, Simple smooth design what I was looking for. I can fit Beocom Portal and Oneplus Buds in there with no issues. If I were to print it again, I would probably try to lower the height of the shelf walls a bit, but even with the original height, access to the shelf is good Printed on Elegoo CC with white matte PLA Thanks for model!

Thanks for the very kind words! Do you want me to make you another shelf with much lower walls? from memory it might have to come from an angle due to the recesss at the back of the mount but could make something a bit more accessible if things falling out isn’t a concern?

it's not necessary, I already printed this and it serves the purpose as I imagined, So I'm happy with it. But it's very kind of you

Very nice D2M work here. Separating the bowl from the hanger. So one is able to print the part with the most structural stress in the best orientation. And the way to assemble the two parts together - just lovely design work here. I really appreciate this! I’ve printed the hanger in black PETG CF and the bowl in Wood PLA. So regarding the not yet tested PETG version… it fits very nicely and as you can see in the picture, it can hold some headphones… 10/10, would print again

Great design, the assembly fits together perfectly. This assembly method has given me some inspiration, and perhaps I will use similar structures in my future DIY designs to hold two items securely, avoiding difficult-to-print situations. In short, thank you very much 😊

Thank you very much! This is actually my first design that I've put serious effort into. I was "self-learning" throughout the process, and at the same time, I created quite a few problems for myself 😅 The fixing/assembly method was something I gradually figured out through repeated trials. I quite like this structure myself because I haven't seen anyone do it this way before. I'm very happy that it works well for you. If this design can bring you some inspiration for your future works, I would be greatly honored.
