Description

Experience the magic of early optics with this 3D-printed Camera Obscura! This simple yet fascinating model lets you explore the fundamentals of light and vision just like the artists and scientists of centuries past.

This Camera Obscura is designed to be printed from dark filament, preferably black, to ensure minimal light leakage. It features a small pinhole on one side that projects a live, upside-down image of the outside world onto the opposite surface inside the box. To view the projection, you’ll need a sheet of semi-transparent paper (such as technical tracing paper), which can either be taped on or attached using small round magnets (4mm radius, 1.6mm height) if you print the magnet-ready version of the file. Just pause your print at the right moment and insert the magnets for a clean finish!

For the best results, cover yourself and the Camera Obscura with a dark cloth, blanket, or towel to block out external light while viewing. The darker the environment, the clearer and sharper your projected image will be!

Perfect for photography enthusiasts, students learning about optics, or anyone who loves blending science, history, and art into a hands-on experience.

Features:
✔ Easy to print, dark filament recommended
✔ Supports use of tracing paper or magnet-attached projection surface
✔ Educational tool for teaching the basics of optics
✔ Historical and scientific project rolled into one
✔ Great fun for makers, teachers, and curious minds alike
