Overview

If you’ve ever noticed those glowing, mysterious critter eyes peeking out at you on Big Thunder, Pirates of the Caribbean, or tucked away in other Disney attractions — you’ll know the vibe I was going for here.

These are solar-powered garden lights with a 3D printed sleeve that creates that same eerie, hidden-eyes effect once the sun goes down.

Parts count: 1

Key Features

  • Designed to slip over garden solar lights - https://amzn.to/4iw5Apg
  • Stylized “critter eye” cutouts with optional internal amber lens film - I used this https://amzn.to/44JVmhs
  • Weather-resistant design for year-round outdoor use
  • Charges during the day and glows at night — no wires or batteries required
  • Creates the illusion of hidden creatures watching from the dark

Printing Details

Recommended filaments: PETG (for outdoor use), or PLA+ (for covered spaces)

Hotend: 0.4mm Hardened Steel or brass nozzle

Print time: 35 minutes

Filament usage: ~20g per unit

Printing Tips:

  • Minimal supports required
  • 0.2mm layer height recommended
  • Use darker filament for best effect (black or dark gray preferred)
  • Apply amber or yellow translucent tape on the inside of the eye cutouts for a warm glow

Assembly
Just print and insert a standard garden solar light. Optionally, apply lens film or translucent tape behind the eye cutouts. Then place in your garden — no glue, no tools, no hassle.
