Description

Some time ago I bought the Zippo Firefast Torch to use for cleaning up stringing on my prints.

I like the size and the flame of this unit, however my default grip for this unit is a “pistol-grip” and this renders some awkward movement of my fingers to actual light this thing up - I found it really difficult to use. I know you can grip it in different ways which will remedy this to some extent and allow for easier operation… However, I always default to the same “pistol-grip” - hence I decided to modify the torch to make it more comfortably.

What I ended up with was making a new extended trigger, allowing for a more ergonomic movement of my index finger when igniting the torch while holding it in a “pistol-grip”.

While prototyping this I also managed to break the tiny guide-pin which helps keep the spring in place and also guide the linear movement of the trigger, hence I designed some “tabs” at the top of the trigger to allow the trigger to be guided by the original housing in the same manner as the pin.

So… If you own this torch and find it hard to ignite or you have broken the tiny guide-pin, then this model is for you…

(The model works fine if the guide-pin still is intact… :-) )
