Shortly after mounting the AMS Lite to the top of my A1, a spool fell off while printing. A quick search led me to another model which seemed to work pretty well, but it was a bit longer than I wanted. So I shortened it, and made a couple other minor aesthetic changes.
Though I posted it, I wasn't really satisfied with it because it was a bit challenging to get the lock to seat properly. A couple days after posting it, someone reached out with an idea that would definitely improve it, so I made a quick mock-up. As I was testing it out, I realized that I could simplify the design, and hopefully make it both easier and more effective.
The Bambu AMSL Hubcap uses a simple twist lock to wedge under and expand the arms of the rotary spool holder, and provides a large surface area to keep most spools from sliding off.
Note: The print profile is configured to print by object, instead of by layer to avoid excess color changes, leading to wasted filament from purging and priming two times each layer. This means that there will be two objects printed in the first filament, then two printed in the second filament. If you choose the same filament for both sets of objects, it will still print as two groups, rather than all four at once, but the print time should be about the same.
