Description

SpoolEase Documentation: https://docs.spoolease.io/docs/welcome

SpoolEase is a smart add-on system for Bambu Lab 3D printers that adds intelligence and control to every filament spool.

It features:

  • NFC tags for automatic spool identification
  • A complete spool inventory management system - keeping your spools organized
  • Precise filament tracking using (1) weight scale, (2) print usage monitoring, and (3) a smart workflow - so you can tell how much filament is available in every spool
  • Automatic slot configuration fot material, color, pressure advance (K)
  • A Virtual Spool Tag for viewing spool info on your mobile device
  • Compatibility with your slicer filament settings
  • Serves as backup for your pressure advance settings (for when the printer loses them — and yes, it happens)

The system includes two products:

  • SpoolEase Console – The main hub with display, handling NFC tag encoding, inventory tracking, printer setup, and AMS filament status. SpoolEase Console works independently and does not require SpoolEase Scale.
  • SpoolEase Scale – Measures spool weight and feeds data to the Console. SpoolEase Scale depends on SpoolEase Console to operate.

This model is the case (only the case!) for SpoolEase Scale device described at https://github.com/yanshay/SpoolEase

If you are not familiar with SpoolEase, please see first SpoolEase Console as it is the basis for this add-on.

October 1st Update: Made a few small changes:
1. Cover: Instead of two narrow front buttons, one being mostly for reset, the left (green) button was made wider and the right button was replace with a hole for when it's required. This makes it easier to press the left button w/o accidentally hitting the reset.

2. Base - strengthened the rails for the PN532 and added mounts for zip ties

3. Cover + Base: extended the snaps to connect better (also more difficult to disassemble) to hold together better.

This model is the case (only the case!) for the scale device described at https://github.com/yanshay/SpoolEase

Will also appreciate if you can star the GitHub repository.

I really recommend you checkout my latest model - a unique filament clip, using a simple rubber band.

After not finding a filament clip that fit my requirements I designed my own.

Hello @yanshay , are you willing to update (add) current profile to accomodate different Load-Cell? Mine, despite of being the same, has different screw dispacement (distances between screws). Are you willing to update it and add as new profile (for example)? I hate remixing STL, work with source files (OnShape or what are you working in) is SO easier. Thank you

Where did you get the load cell? they are usually standard. Such a change you can easily perform in the slicer using cylinder negative part. Also doing that on STL in any modeling software is easy - it’s just about adding a hole. If I see something changed with load cells standard I will update, I don’t want to include models for unique items since it will cause more confusion to other users who might print the wrong one no matter what I write on that profile.

I uploaded a new print profile based on the load cell diagram you uploaded. If you want to try it out, please check it thoroughly before you print to see if it seems to fix. It includes only the parts that need to change. Also review description of the profile to see all dimensions of the load cell you have are like the diagram - there are several differences in dimensions, not just distance between screws.

Replying to @yanshay :
Hi, printing right now to test. Thank you for this update. These loadcells are quite common in eu. I've been offline for some time, just started wiht changes. It's hard to fit these negative spaces precisely so it all fits together... Long story short -- thanks sir

Excellent work! Printed and built easily, a fantastic idea. Thank you so much! My compliments on the build and setup instructions, they were more comprehensive than most commercial products I've ever built. Seriously, you're awesome.
