Description

This is a fully 3D printed Claw Game. It uses 2 strings and the weight of the parts to mechanically open or close the claw. You pull one string to open and the other string to close the claw.

This is test lift on my US size 14 shoe...it works so much better than I expected.

Assembly instructions:

  1. Print out all of the pieces
  2. Remove the supports and Exercise the claw until it moves freely
  3. Screw the rod that connects to the claw into the back side of the claw. It should be the side with the finer threads and it will be level with the front face of the claw if you have the right side. (sorry that the ends are close to same but not same enough to fit either way)

  4. Insert the weight with the angular cutouts into the body and align until it drops down fully. (this is the area that increases the grab strength. You could print 2-3 more of the plane cylinder weights to add here if you want more grip force. (I did not find it necessary with my print.)
  5. Insert the claw assembly and connector through the bottom of the body.
  6. Screw on the weighted grab pole to the weighted grab pole

  7. Connect the 3 green linkages to the same side of each of the body to claw lift points.  You should push hard to snap it in place
  8. Slide on the cylindrical weight on top of the grab pole.
  9. Get some string cut into 5 pieces: 3 that are close to the same lenght about the length of a pencil, 2 long ones that will be your lifting ropes
  10. Tie the short strings to the lift points on the body
  11. Pass the string through the string guide 3 holes near the outer edges and tie a knot that keeps them roughly the same length. Tie extra knots to even it out if needed.
  12. pass one end of a long string through the center hole and tie a knot. If you lift by this one, the claw should open.
  13. Pass the other long string through the slightly off center hole and tie it onto the orange grab pole. If you lift by this one, the claw should close.

That's it…you are done and ready to get grabbing.

New accessory: Double reel system to add it to a fishing pole

Thanks for the boost! I hope they like it! I’m also working on a 2 spool reel that fits on a fishing pole that is nearly done except final testing. It is fully compatible with this model and should be posted soon.

😜true. Now I’m picturing the kids playing with the claw and just wishing for a piece of string.
