Description

Update 09/22/2025 :

Hello Everyone if you like this design I assure you you will love my new design. I updated the calipers to slide with more resistance and reliabbly, and included finding angles (30°, 45°, and 90°). I have also added screws on the measuring surfaces to make it more robust to mesuring rough objects.

Hello this is a simple edc metric calipers that doubles as an emergency ¼ bit or ifixit (4 mm) bit wrench. It was designed to be printed with PETG. The tlerances is just right for easy sliding out and enough friction to not fall out.

If you like this model and the explantion behind it please leave a comment and like to boost the algorithm, Thanks :)

Printed mostly perfect except the overhang underneath the "MM" is a bit stringy,I might place a support there next time. On a P1S using Bambu Lab PETG HF (0.08mm layer height). Tolerances are too loose also, so it slides right out by gravity alone already under a 45 degree angle.

Yes this model was designed around my printer and material combo. i have tried other PETG some are too tight others are too loose. This is the design limitation. The STEP file is available for moddification or you could download a different design that is more robust with the tolorance by using a different moving mechanisim. Thanks, love this concept and the quality otherwise and will wait for the next iteration! Oddly enough even though I printed from the slicer (browser) directly I can't seem to give a rating, sorry.

The link provided is the updated design it uses a screw and nut design to better secure the caliper. it also happens to make it a functional wrench. I just would not expect it to be super strong as a wrench.

Thanks, should you feel the slide is loose I did release two other designs that fix this issue in a different way, but both work well.

Had some adhesion issues, will try again, because the idea looks nice

It's a shame that happens. Thanks for keeping a positive attitude and trying again.

I just uploaded a new model that uses a threaded nut to keep the caliper in place also making it a nut.

printed ok, looks accurate, but the arm doesn’t stay in place. bbl Petg. fixed the loose piece.

I have another version of a caliper available that uses a different mechanisim to address this issue. I have also been developing a multitool based around the same.

Good print, the caliper work and the fit is pretty good, but the two colours do not work if you print in black background and white writing. I understand that the model is made to be minimal but could be added some more features, like the hole gauge.

Excellent print profile, no visible imperfections. I noted the vertical printing strategy employed to create the knurling, enhancing dimensional accuracy. Superb work
