Description

I am a firm believer that, where possible, kids should be introduced to growing plants and gardening from a young age. The problem can be that some plants take a long time to grow and children can lose interest. Cress however can grow really fast, progress can been seen in a matter of days!

With the easter school break upon us, what better time than this to give it a try.

The sign can be customised in Bambu Studio, with you child's name or the entire text changed to whatever you'd like.

If printing without customising the text, the sign will say 'My little cress garden'

I have included a scale on the sign to help see the growth over the days or even for a little friendly competition between siblings or friends!

I have put the sign part on a separate plate so it can be printed separately to minimise filament swaps and purges, although you could perhaps put them on the same plate and set to print by object. I am not sure if there is the space to do this on the A1 mini.

I use a cottonwool makeup remover pad. The ones I had available to me were around 85 x 70 mm which I gently stretched slightly to fit the 8cm diameter saucer.

I then folded it in half to cut a little slit and pushed this over the central sign support piece.

The sign can then slot in.

Add water and drain off the excess.

Sprinkle with some cress seeds and set on a window sill.

You should see the first signs of growth in a day or two.

Just don't forget to water and drain off the excess daily or even more often if it is really warm and the cottonwool is drying out quicker!

Once the cress is grown, you and your kids can enjoy ‘smelly egg and cress sandwiches’😂
