Description

Vacuum Pump Capacitor Mounting Bracket

During the development of my other vacuum projects (especially the Double-Sided Vacuum Block with Side Connection or the Vacuum Block for 20 & 19 mm Bench Dog Holes) I realized I needed a stronger vacuum pump. So I ordered a standard 500 W oil-free vacuum pump which came with a handful of accessories to be mounted, including the capacitor. As the pump has no direct mounting options, I made a bracket to fix the capacitor safely in place while also having strain relief on the mains connection.

Features

  • Mounting bracket for the capacitor (M8 thread, capacitor diameter 40 mm)
  • Several positions for cable ties to manage the cables and to create a strain relief
  • Printed in PETG to support higher temperatures (pump gets warmer during operation, and the slight flex of PETG might work better in the vibrating environment)
  • Leverages existing pump feet mounting positions (M6)
  • 2 additional spacers included for the remaining 2 pump feet to secure a horizontal position

Materials

  • Pump is a non-branded Chinese version available through several resellers. I ordered this one (750 W version).
  • A few cable ties
  • Otherwise no materials needed, directly using the all the parts as supplied by the pump vendor
