Description

Hello Slingers!

We all love the Scout LT slingshot from Simpleshot, but the clips that come with the slingshot are horribly large, bulky, heavy, and ugly.  These new clips I designed are lightweight, low profile, and good looking!

What you will need:

  1. 3D printer
  2. M5 x 6mm L x 7mm OD Female Thread Brass Embedding
  3. M5-0.8 x 25mm Button Head Socket Cap Screws
  4. Soldering Iron

How to make these:

Start by 3d printing a set of clips. Print the clips with the groove line facing down.  Add supports from the build plate only.  Infill 100%, Layer Height 0.16mm.  I recommend to print them from PETG.  I do not recommend using PLA as I have had it not retain it's shape under tension over time.

After the print is complete, remove the supports and make sure the clip is smooth and clear of any sharp edges that could damage the slingshot bands.  Then take your soldering iron and brass threaded insert.  Heat up the brass insert with the soldering iron tip while pressing down to slowly insert the brass threaded insert into the clip until flush.

Now install your clips onto the slingshot, attach your bands, and tighten in place.  Pull the bands back a few times to make sure they are working properly and that they are holding securely.  Now, sling away!

I have been testing these out for quite a while and I have not had any issues.  But as always, please do your own testing.
