Description

A more detailed model of the cutter -- build new from the ground up -- that is fully 3d printable.

(Build guide see below)

It features:

  • a redesigned and more realistic hull
  • better rigging that is easier to place
  • less brittle parts
  • improved sails
  • more details
  • a stand, so it doesn´t capsize that easily anymore

Suggestions before printing:

  • have a way to remove small and thin parts (~0.2mm) from the build plate, e.g. a scraper

Build guide:

  • print the parts :)

Step 1:

  • Remove the supports

The parts should no longer easily break, however still be careful, especially with the bell

Step 2 (optional but recommended):

  • Organize the parts

Step 3:

  • Connect the rudder to the hull

(It might be a tight fit but should work)

  • Connect the rudder and hull with the c-shaped rigging / connector pieces

  • Put the rudder handle on top of the rudder

Step 4:

  • Connect the first (bigger triange) sail to the bowsprit. I suggest using the second hole from the front and back.

  • Connect the second (smaller triangle) sail to the bowsprit.

Step 5:

  • Build the main mast

Step 6:

For connecting the square sails use the outer holes on top and the inner on the bottom side

  • Connect the moonsail (top) to the main mast.

Step 7:

  • Connect the main sail

Step 8:

  • Place the mast-connector on the mast (as shown in the picture).

Step 9:

  • Put the masts together and connect the 2nd square sail

Step 10:

  • Connect the topsail to the mast

Step 11:

  • Put the mast on the hull

Step 12:

  • Cut a piece of rigging and pull it trough the bell

  • Place the bell on the hull

Step 13:

  • Place the cover on the cargo-hold

Step 14 (optional but makes it easier to position the bowsprit):

  • Cut the back rope that connects the front sails as pictures (after bending them so they don't slip out)

  • Place the bowsprit on the hull
  • Pull the remaining rope of the front sails trough the designated holes (so that the bowsprit isn't lifted but doesn't fall either)
  • Bend the rope and cut off surplus

Step 15:

  • Pull a line trough the anchor and fix it to the hull

Step 16:

  • Put together the 2 cannon pieces and place them on the hull

Step 17:

  • Place the lifeboat onboard

Step 18:

  • Connect the side rigging

Step 18:

  • Put the sing on the back

Step 19 (suggested):

  • try to not get frustrated if the small pieces don't stay in place

Step 20:

  • Place the cutter on the stand
