Summary
This is a light-up model of the famous V-2 rocket that looks just like its taking off. You can use various light sources for this, the one I selected has a remote so you can turn it off and on at a distance, change the brightness, choose the color, and even have different animations. It looks great in bright and dark areas.
The model is of a V-2 Rocket that was produced by Germany during WWII and then after WWII was used by many world powers, including the United States, to jump start their rocket programs. A V-2 holds the distinction of also being the first man made object to reach outer space by crossing the Kármán line on June 20th, 1944 (learn more). It reached a the impressive altitude of 574,000ft or 175km before coming back to earth (it didn't orbit the earth, but it did reach space).
If you are interested to learn more about this rocket going into space in the 1940's, Mark Felton has a great video you can view on youtube.
This model is very easy to assemble, just snap together a few pieces and that's it – no glue is required.
To light up the model, simply insert an LED light source into the hole at the bottom of the stand and then pinch the cover to close up the hole. It works great with various LED lights, such as LED tea candle lights, however, it works best with the LED light and remote linked down below or via this Amazon link.
Bambu Filaments used were:
- Basic Light Gray
- Matte Dark Red
- Metal Iron Gray Black
- Sunlu Clear PLA (Amazon link)
