Fx6 filter adapter - with O-ring
Print Profile(2)

Description
Fx6 filter adapter allows the use of a sponge filter on your Fx6 and FX5 canister filter. The sponge filter is not included but a link to the one I use can be found on Amazon below. I've also included a O-ring you can print to make this seal up nicely if you choose to use it. I only have it on a few of my aquariums and the rest I just slip fit them.
This is a must-have for aquarium enthusiasts. This black plastic tube with holes provides optimal flow for a clean and healthy aquatic environment. I personally have been running this setup on all 4 of my Fx6's for over 3 years. This makes a huge difference on how dirty the filter material in your canister filter will get normally. It's important to watch when the pre-filter starts to flatten out on the bottom. You will be wanting to remove and clean it or change it completely. If your pre-filter does plug you will hear your canister filter starting to suck air. You will want to get the pre-filter changed then. This will allow the fx6 to release the trapped air and fill correctly again like it does every 12 hours. The biggest reason to run a setup like this is to keep your main canister filter clean longer. I have pushed clean ups on my filters to the 1 year mark and they hardly look like they have run for a few months. It's not bad at all and makes cleaning nice. Also if you have sand in any of your aquariums this will keep your canister filter from sucking it into the canister causing issues with the motor assemble over time. It's a great setup to use with your FX6 or FX5!
Here is the sponge filters I run with this. They do involve a little stretching to fit it, but it's the largest setup I've been able to find.

This is printed in ASA. It will hold up and not show signs of breaking down under UV lights. It has not harmed my fish in any way either.
The O-ring is printed out of TPU. It has enough flexibility to stretch onto the end of your intake tube and will last a long time.
I've used TPU o-rings in canister filters for up to 3 years so far and not had issues. Those o-rings are used to create a seal for the pressurized canister filter. So I can say 3D printing isn't what it used to be!
