This is a 6 piece stand for holding an embroidery scroll frame. The pieces are fully interchangeable with those in the All About Embroidery UA scroll frame, but it will work with any frame that has 6mm holes on the side of the frame.


This does not include the scroll bars for the top / bottom of the frame, or the clips which hold the fabric in place. It does include side bars which are compatible with scroll bars using 6mm hardware.

 

I designed this for maximum compatibility with the frame I already had, but I think there's room for improvement. I particularly find it frustrating to have to get out a Philips head screwdriver in order to fully tighten the frame to the stand. If there's enough interest I may try to redesign the side bars to use square neck carriage bolts.

 

This model was printed in BambuLab Galaxy Green filament.

Additional Parts

If you are repairing an existing stand you likely already have this hardware. If you are printing the stand from scratch

  • (4) M6 x 40 square-neck carriage bolts (McMaster 98930A048)
  • (6) M6 hex nuts (McMaster 90592A016)
  • (2) M6 x 70 Truss Head Phillips Screws (McMaster 92467A534)

Printing

When printing the nuts there is a pause at layer 36 in order to drop the M6 hex nuts in. Make sure to push them all the way down into the print, then resume printing.

Assembly

  1. Insert one of the feet into one of the middle bars, aligning the side holes. 
  2. Push an M6 carriage bolt into the side of the middle bar with the square hole. You  may need to twist the bolt in order to get it in.
  3. Thread one of the M6 nuts onto the end of the carriage bolt and gently tighten.
  4. Repeat this process for the end bar, slotting it into the other end of the middle bar. Then repeat for the other side.
  5. Push an M6 Philips screw through the side of the scroll frame, starting from the inside (where the fabric goes).
  6. Place the round spacer over the end of the screw.
  7. Place the hole at the end of the end bar over the screw.
  8. Secure with an M6 nut.
