Yes, the ring does print in place !
WARNING:

There's a lot of supports in this model, including inside the mouth, to keep the ring in place while printing.
Take your time to carefully remove it all, so the ring comes free.
Also a number of smaller supports to keep the protrusions and horns in place.
The model has no eyes, this is intentionally, so the holes can be used for screws or bolts, to mount the knocker on a door.
Your dragon will have eyes of steel ! ! !   ;-)
Or you can put LED's in the holes, I'd love to see you do that ! (photo, please)

This model was created using a blend of Meshmixer, Onshape & Tinkercad
