IKEA Kallax HSW Door

Description

I'm excited to share my Kallax HSW Door design! This project addresses the need for a handy HSW panel near my printer on my Ikea Kallax shelf, without sacrificing an entire cube. The door allows for easy access and maximizes usable HSW space within the existing shelf structure.

Below is a breakdown of included components:

• HSW Door Panels (4 pieces): Designed for easy assembly using standard HSW connectors.
• Ikea-compatible Hinges (2 pieces): Specifically designed to fit Ikea's standard screw dimensions (6.3 x 13 mm), but other screws should also work.
• 3D Printed Hinge Pins: Securely hold the hinges in place.
• Top and Bottom Spacer Brackets: Assist with hinge alignment and installation.

Design Features:

• The door is constructed from four panels, connected using standard HSW connectors (included) for a modular build.
• The hinges are secured with custom 3D printed pins for a reliable and precise fit.
• The door is designed to protrude slightly from the Kallax shelf, allowing for sufficient clearance for opening and closing, and maximizing the internal HSW space.
• The door turns a small section of the Kallax into a functional HSW panel.

Printing Tips:

• Print in PLA or PETG.
• Ensure accurate bed leveling for optimal hinge pin and hinge fit.
• For best results with the spacer brackets, ensure good bed adhesion.
• The HSW panels are designed to connect with standard HSW connectors (included).

Assembly Tips:

• Assemble the four door panels using standard HSW connectors.
• Insert the 3D printed hinge pins to secure the hinges.
• Use the spacer brackets to align the hinges during installation.
• The door is designed to be a snug fit, some light sanding may be required for optimal hinge movement.
• Ensure that the hinges are properly aligned before fully securing the door to the Kallax. (I recommend using some masking tape for a test fitment)
