Update 27.06.25:
I just started a collab with „Veetec 3D“ from czech republic
The upgraded version of the feeder can now be bought fully assembled, or as a „hardware only“ kit here:

If you like this, please consider giving me a boost!
I designed this crank-operated manual filament feeder unit that sits in line with your external material PTFE tube.
This assembly uses the stock extruder gears and bearings out of a P1S/P1P (X1C parts or “hardened extruder gears” from bambu shop also work), which are probably also lying around somewhere at your place!
This also uses some additional hardware parts that i will list further below.
I uploaded a upgraded version of this recently. I also made a print profile to upgrade from this original version! It reuses all parts except one of the housing halfs!
Check out the new, much faster (~3x) version here: https://makerworld.com/models/1352528
It allows you to feed your external material all the way to the hotend without having to open a PTFE Connection or fiddle around with the filament manually.
The unit acts “normally open” and puts very, very little resistance to the filament path.
The extruder gears only engage and “grab” the filament, when pressure is applied to the big lever/trigger.
Once pressure is applied, the filament can be moved by spinning the crank.
I recommend using the Cool Plate Supertack for plate 1 (housing and crank) and Textured/Smooth PEI for plate 2 (gear and washer)
Please note that after printing you will have to do one pass through the filamentpath with a 2mm drill bit

For those of you that want to buy the parts separatly, this is the list of things to get for V1:
-Stock P1S/P1P/X1C Extruder Gears and Bearings
-2x PTFE Tube Couplings (M6 thread)
-1x Bearing - 21mm outer ⌀, 12mm inner ⌀, 5mm thickness
-1x Bearing - 10mm outer ⌀, 3mm inner ⌀, 4mm thickness
(Dummy bearings for first tests available in seperate print profile, check comment for further description!)
-2x cylindrical shaft 10mm long, 3mm ⌀
-2x cylindrical shaft 20mm long, 3mm ⌀
(If you cant get these you can also cut an old 3mm drill, thats what i did for my first prototype, I also provide printable shafts in a seperate print profile, for further details see the comment at the profile)
-1x spring 10mm long, 6mm ⌀, 0,65mm wire stickness (other wire thickness will probably work)
-4x heat set insert M3 (I use RUTHEX, others will work but fit quality could vary)
-1x heat set insert M4 (I use RUTHEX, others will work but fit quality could vary)
-2x countersunk screw M3x8
-2x countersunk screw M3x12
-1x lens head screw M4x 20
If you like this design, please consider leaving a like/boost or a comment, it will be much appreciated!
Cheers and happy printing,
MIM
