Description

[Update 04/24 - Added Fusion files to allow customization]

I came across a video from YouTube creator named Hoocho where he designed and 3d printed a hydroponic grow tower, but I wanted to be able to use a different growing media than rockwool or foam, so I modeled a crude little net cup that fits in the tower.

Subsequently, the creator released his own model of a net cup, but they didn't come out great on my printer and the one I modeled is a little longer/deeper with a notch for the angled stop inside the tower slots.

Here's the video that inspired the design:

If you're interested in the STL files for the tower or his net cup you can check out his patreon.

Printed perfect on my P1S in PETG. It’s a bit small for my injection moulded Temu tower but still works. I will look at modifying and share once I learn how

Hi @Baby_Giraffe I have the same situation, by any chance did you succeed in modifying the models?

have you tried them in the seed starting tray he designed to go with his net cups?

I've been using an Aerogarden clone and the "adaptapod" design (available on makerworld) with the long skinny sponges for my seed starter. The nice thing about the adaptapod is that it comes in two pieces so its relatively easily to extract the sponge with the plant and roots into these cups without destroying the pod. I normally just put a few clay pebbles in the net cup around the sponge when they go in the tower to make them secure.

Very nice, works great. Using vermiculite in the cups, would have been nice if the holes in the cups were a bit smaller for some of the vermiculite. Great design! If you don't mind, could you please share the original files from Fusion 360. Thank you.

Glad they're working out for you, I can absolutely share the original Fusion files. although they might be a little messy - I was still learning how best to do the honeycomb grid cutouts. I'll grab them and upload them today

First test cup printed well on my H2D - then I printed a group - I crammed 35 on the H2D print bed, with a 38 hr print time using PETG-HF in black (except one came loose mid print, nearly lost the entire print 11 hrs in), NOTE: also, put them too close together and the tree supports crept into the adjacent cups, so removing the supports and support creep was exhausting - but they do fit the Hoocho 3D printed 4 cups well - need to print more, but not 35 this time - will space them out a little (LOT) more next time!
