Description

Welcome back witches and wizards!

This is a really old project I made once, back then with PVC pipes. I always loved Hedwigs theme from harry potter and I love tin whistle, but due to the special key the song is written in, it is very hard to play for a noob like me, because of a lot of half steps.

So I thought I could design my own whistle that only lets me play the notes I need for that song.

I used http://iotic.com/flutomat/# back then and experimented a bit with the hole sizes and differences.

This is my final result, designed with a little deathly hallows sign on the head.

2 notes are very close to each other which is somehow hard to grab, so I made 2 versions of the pipe:

  1. One with a thumb hole for the lower hand,
  2. One with normal „tin whistle“ style holes but some of them aren’t in line, because otherwise they would be to hard to close with fingers like mine.

Just try both and decide which you like more.

Printing:

Make sure to use a clean built plate and a big brim (i used 20mm and super tack).

Use tree supports for the mouth piece, it es essential that it is printed clean to create a proper sound.

You need to activate Arachne wall mode, otherwise the sharp edge (labulum) won’t be sharp enough.
