Description

New v2 Desiccant Spool with Hygrometer, designed to be easily removed and replaced. This works well for anyone using an AMS Lite, and/or AMS, or for easy removal when drying your filament.

Features:

  • Remove/replace the desiccant shell without removing the lid
  • Shell bottom sits flush with the spool

v2 Updates:

  • The hygrometer is now easier to insert and remove from the lid
  • The outer tabs of the lid are wider, to keep the shell from sliding out of the spool core
    • Remove by pinching the tabs on each side while pushing  to extract the shell
    • I find it easier to hold the sides of the spool while pinching the tabs inward and pushing the shell out at the same time using my thumbs
    • If you just push the center of the hygrometer, the tabs may break
    • If you find this version too difficult to remove, v1 may be more suitable
  • The outer tabs are now wide enough that the shell won't slide out when you print with Bambu PLA Matte, but I still highly recommend avoiding Matte. It is too brittle and the tabs may break after inserting and removing the shell a few times
    • Use Matte PLA filament at your own risk
    • Low reviews due to this filament choice will be ridiculed! :)
  • The v2 containers include a hole for a ½" x 2mm acrylic disc, like these or these to more easily determine the state of the desiccant
    • The print  profile includes a pause at layer 16 to insert the discs
    • There is a large variance in size, so the tolerance is large enough that the disc may spin a little when the first layer of filament is extruded, and it may require a little post-print clean up
    • Use v1 of the container if you don't have or want to use the acrylic windows

v1 includes the following build plates:

  1. Open Lid, 30% Gyroid - the container and lid print without top and bottom layers, providing a gyroid infill screen
  2. Open Lid, 35% Honeycomb - the container and lid print without top and bottom layers, providing a honeycomb infill screen
  3. Closed Lid - this lid can be paired with either of the containers, and isolates the hygrometer from the desiccant to measure humidity of the air in the AMS / storage container

v2 includes the following build plates:

  1. Open Lid v2, 30% Gyroid - the lid prints without top and bottom layers, providing a gyroid infill screen
  2. Open Lid v2, 35% Honeycomb - the lid prints without top and bottom layers, providing a honeycomb infill screen
  3. Closed Lid v2 - this lid can be paired with any of the v1 or v2 containers, and isolates the hygrometer from the desiccant to measure humidity of the air in the AMS / storage container
  4. Windowed Container v2, 30% Gyroid - the container prints without top and bottom layers, providing a gyroid infill screen, and includes a pause at layer 16 for inserting the acrylic disc
  5. Windowed Container v2, 35% Honeycomb - the container prints without top and bottom layers, providing a honeycomb infill screen, and includes a pause at layer 16 for inserting the acrylic disc

Both v1 and v2 are sized for use in the Bambu Lab reusable spools, but may also fit other spools. They are also compatible with the desiccant funnel in the remix section.

Note: Works best with the hygrometer protruding from the label side of the spool, as pictured. The openings on each side of the spool are different. Insert the desiccant container on the side of spool with the wider spool opening. It will be loose, but then will stabilize as it slides then snaps in place on the narrower opening.
