Description

Dual-fan Bracket for Ableconn PCIe Dual m.2 - PEXM2-130 - 40+60mm

Years back, I picked up some Ableconn PEXM2-130 cards to split the PCIe x8 slots in some Dell R720 servers down to x4x4 with dual m.2 slots.

Those old dells don't have onboard bifurcation, so this was a great solution!

One broken Samsung dishwasher, 100+ TB lost, and 2 years later, I got ONE of these cards working and tested in a ZimaBoard.  Only, even with copper heatsinks, the Optane drives were surpassing 70c.

This little bracket lets me throw a 40mm over the PEX heatsink and a 60mm over the m.2 slots.

Dropped my temps significantly - Optanes stayed under 40c, consistently.

It prints in under an hour on my A1 Mini.

  • print with posts pointing upward
  • no supports
  • I printed in “PLA Tough” from Bambu (it was on sale and out of production)
    • If you do PLA, use a “tougher” variation, I would guess… or ++ the walls & infill
    • Or maybe do a proper material?
  • Printed with 3 walls, but I would suggest 4 or more
  • 20% or more infill seems sturdy on mine
