Description

This is a set of clamp-on paper roller holders in two sizes for different table thicknesses.

I remixed the design by Aockey on Thingiverse specifically to use Honeycomb Paper, the kind that is used for packaging and to provide tension needed to expand the honeycombs as you wrap an object.

While this can be printed in any filament, if you are using it to tension honeycomb paper you should use at least PETG or stronger filament as the stresses in pulling large rolls can break PLA, all profiles are for PETG.

Main Print Profile sizes:

  • Standard: for tables/surfaces up to 35mm or 1.4" thick
  • XL: for tables/surfaces up to 65mm or 2.5" thick

Core stubs:

  • Includes 50mm core stubs, or use one of these:
  • Universal hanging core - small stubs to allow roll to freely hang for loose materials without tension
  • Universal tensioned core - cone shaped stub to fit cores from 1" up to 3" inner diameter

To use:

  1. Measure the thickness of your table and print the profile appropriate for you needs, they are labeled for thickness
  2. Attach the clamps to your table, and tighten one end, leaving the other semi-loose
  3. Insert the core ends into the spool - I've included for 50mm inner diameter cores, please let me know if yours is different and I can add additional sizes
  4. Slide the roll with ends onto the clamps and adjust as needed
  5. Before tightening down fully, test the tension you want by pulling on the paper, pushing the clamp end towards the roll and re-tightening until you get the tension you want.
  6. Now pull out a bit of the roll, and grasp the roll with your hand while pulling the paper with the other to expand the honeycombs
  7. Wrap your object
  8. Pull object away from the roll while holding it to make it tear, or tear/cut by hand.
