Description

This tray is designed to store Clamshell Parts Box by Nick Johnson. Nick's parts box is great, the hinges are solid and the feet are the finishing touch. My question is how to efficiently store those boxes that I am going to print, I am now able to store 3 boxes in a 2x2 gridfinity bin. Due to space limitations, the 2x2 bins are not stackable and I created a 4x2 stackable tray for 6 boxes. This tray also work well with the Small Parts Storage Box by Josh-3D.

I also published another tray for the Extra Wide box, Extra Tall box and Extra Wide Extra Tall box. Two versions is provided, with or without the magnet socket. Please feel free to download its print profile.

I don't know if this is intentional but if you put one tray on bottom, one tray on top, held together with hairbands slotted into the feet... that precious cargo is going NOWHERE.

Thanks for sharing your findings. I wonder if Bambulab Shop sells hairbands, I can earn some commission :)

There is an issue with the design, the space between the boxes is not evenly distributed. I love how you managed to store 3 boxes in a 2x2 grid, but the fact they are not aligned drives my OCD crazy!

I'm also someone with OCD and understand the pain. Since seeing your message, I've checked my Fusion 360 file and measured the STL file three times, fearing I might make a mistake. The box distances are all the same. Anyway, I'll do it again this afternoon. :)

That is weird. I reordered the boxes in the tray and the spacing is still there. Even when we look at @toffe picture (bellow) we can see the spacing.

I'm unable to see what you see, where is the gap? On the far right? Mine changes the gap between where i tilt it, so if i tilt a set of 3 to the left the gap comes on right side. There is a fair amount of play which is expected to get them to fit on all types of printers. Maybe that is what's bugging you? I can e.g. tilt one of them a bit and they'll stay that tilted most likely stuck on layers until i rattle the whole thing and it falls down. Some has more weight in the top than bottom therefor also making them look crooked? I also cannot find any flaws in the design files. Might be inaccuracy of printers / clamshells and or weight distrubution?

I didn't create one for the Extra Taller box is because I don't have any of them :). Anyway, I will create one since you had asked.

this are great! Just what I needed for my tiny sewing bits. I don't suppose you'd be able to make a tray for the extra large versions?

I saw you have a Extra-Tall box too. Do you need a tray for it. How about 3 boxes in a 2x3 Grid.

How many drawers you plan to fill-in? :)

I've got the four-drawer variant. The first three are shallow and the bottom is deep for files. I plan to do gridfinity on all three shallow drawers.

The print profile is perfect, the issue I raised with the designer is the uneven spacing between the boxes. Still under investigation

Thanks for your 5 star rating. Here is my output from A1 mini. Anyway, The 3D printed model may not match the exact dimensions of the design due to factors like material shrinkage, printer calibration, and the printing process itself. These can cause slight variations, which are common in 3D printing. For me, your output is already acceptable.

I will have to print a few more, so I will check with the other prints. But looking at the pictures of other users, it looks like my result is the norm and you are the exception ;-).
