Description

This is a fix for the poorly designed LG Craft Ice Maker ejection fingers in my LG refrigerator. As designed, the top end of the hard plastic fingers press directly on the soft silicone of the craft ice molds. Eventually they can wear a hole through the silicone as they squeeze it between the ice ball and the hard plastic of the finger. Once that happens the molds start leaking. I designed these bumpers so that there is more area pressing on the silicone so the force is not concentrated in one tiny spot. These need to be printed out of TPU. I used 95A Shore hardness TPU and these fit perfectly and stay on without any adhesive. They might work better from softer TPU, but that's what I have at the moment. They're easy to press fit on. They only take a few minutes to print and use hardly any filament.

The ice maker was replaced under warranty due to this issue. But a replacement costs about $250. Hopefully this part will prevent the damage.

Print these with the large flat side down.

  • .2mm layer height
  • .4mm nozzle
  • 6 perimeters
  • 4 top and bottom solid layers

The photos of the bumpers on the ice maker arms are of a slightly older version of my design. The current design has more angled corners on the flat side for a smoother edge and less concentrated force on the silicone.
