Right Thumb Brace CMC+MCP
Print Profile(6)

Description
Text is WIP
This is the improved version of my first thumb brace. this one closes with a TPU loop or an elastic band. In future there will be a video and / or GIF explaining how to measure and mold. for now, use a hair blower on hottest setting and go slow!
When your joints hurt or lack strenght due to health problems you want solutions fast! Having a custom brace made take a long time and can be very expensive! Because the time from getting a doctors appointment to an apointment with a orthopedic medical device maker to having the perfect brace is many many months, I decided to make my own temporary brace.
It helps for hypermobility, ehlers danlos syndrome, sprained joints, reumatoid and connective tissue disseases. The brace will help the joints align and allows for normal movement while preventing hyperextension, luxations and sideways movement.

This brace prints flat and needs to be heated to mold it to your right hand. Begin by molding the thumb. and then fold the other parts around the wrist. If you printed in PLA a hairblower will be hot enough. Just keep heating slowly and molding small parts at a time. Add a pause if you want a dual colored brace for some extra fun :)
This right hand thumb brace will stabilize the CMC and MCP joints. The brace can be closed by a TPU band (print profile included) or by an elastic (hair) tie. A plate full of different sized TPU bands is added with every print profile. You might need to look which size is the perfect fit for you. Update: a print profile with bigger size TPU bands is now added because the sizes on the original plate seem to be to small for some people. Please check these bigger sizes if you the original bands are to small for you.
For some extra fun I have added the option of raised hexagons on the brace, around the hexagon openings (which help airflow and flexibility). These are screaming for dual colored braces in my opinion! Make some great combinations by mixing and matching. Just pause at layer 9 to change filaments.
Please use the size Guide to choose the correct size. I haven’t had many testers for the sizes yet, so if something is wrong, please tell me so I can adjust the brace or size guide. The A and B size of the hand (see picture) is leading for choosing the size. C is for if you are not sure yet or are between sizes). Size XL is added on a different print profile due to it not fitting on the A1 mini
| Size | XS | S | M | L | XL |
| A | 17cm | 18,5cm | 20cm | 21,5cm | 23cm |
| B | 5,5cm | 6,0cm | 6,5cm | 7,0cm | 7,5cm |
| C | 16cm | 17,5cm | 19cm | 21cm | 22,5cm |

There is also a version with the hook around the hand, which makes the brace a immobilizing brace with no possible movement to completely stabilise the thumb.
