I've seen a bunch of Nintendo 64 game stands - I bought a Bambu P1S printer last week, in part, to print them. And there are some very good ones. But none quite felt right. Whether it was the tolerances for fitments, or blocky elements that didn't feel on brand with Nintendo, or stair tier 'handle' designs that didn't really feel in the spirit of the N64 cartridge aesthetic, I wanted something that felt authentic. 6 days into learning to 3D model, I have my debut from-scratch creation, designed entirely in Tinkercad. You can see my prototype process in the attached photos (the black prints).

 

Some design and print profile notes:

  • NO SUPPORTS REQUIRED!
  • Use ironing on the top surfaces to improve quality of finish.
  • Variable layer height set in Bambu slicer, ranging from 0.08 to 0.24 to improve print time.
    • For long print time but best quality, use “0.08mm High Quality” Bambu Studio profile. Zero ‘speed lines’ this way.
  • 8% sparse infill is more than enough for good rigidity with this model. 
  • Optionally, you can line the bottom with some adhesive foam sponge to prevent the plastic base from sliding on hard surfaces.
