Description
New: Perfect-Fit Wacaco Picopresso Travel Dosing Funnel (TDF) and Tamper Upgrade: After I made this home dosing funnel, the next time I went traveling with my Picopresso, I discovered I was still frustrated with the included travel funnel. So… I went to work and designed a substantially improved funnel and telescoping tamper and still have it all fit inside the Picopresso top. Take a look!
Wacaco Picopresso Perfect-Fit Home Dosing Funnel (HDF) – Because Precision Shouldn’t Be Messy!
Let’s be honest—the Wacaco Picopresso is a fantastic little espresso maker. Portable, sleek, and capable of pulling some seriously good shots. So good, in fact, that mine barely leaves the kitchen counter. But while it’s great for travel, its tiny dosing funnel? Not so much.
Trying to load coffee grounds into that mini portafilter (can we even call it a portafilter without a handle?) feels like performing espresso surgery. Grounds everywhere. WDT tool? Forget it. And don’t even think about using your 58mm home grinder dosing cup—it’s like fitting a square peg in a round hole.
So, I 3D printed the solution: a perfectly snug dosing funnel that clicks onto the Picopresso’s “portafilter” like it was meant to be there. It’s tight enough to stay put when flipping it onto a dosing cup and back—no more mess, no more spills. With this funnel, you can whisk your WDT tool like a tornado sweeping you off to the Land of Oz—without losing a single ground. Stir, WDT, tap, and tamp like a pro.
3D Printing and Coffee
This video is all about all my coffee-related 3D printing projects (including this one) and how they all work together.
Perks
- Perfect fit for the Picopresso basket
- Holds firm for hassle-free flipping
- WDT-friendly (whisk away without a mess)
- Works with standard 58mm dosing cups
Workflow
Starting with a full dosing funnel (DF64 funnel shown) and zeroed out scale with the portafilter & The HDF

Flip the portafilter+HDF on top of the dosing funnel:

Flip the whole stack back on top of the scale. This may seem tricky, but since everything fits perfectly, it's a breeze:

Time to WDT - no matter how fast I swish, the grounds stay in the cup!

Now, do a quick tap before removing the funnel to settle the grounds:

Remove The HDF:

Tamp:

And continue with the rest of your Picopresso flow. Here are a few tips from me. I've made at least 500 shots with the picopresso at this point:
- preheat before you start grinding so it's all ready by the time you have tamped grounds
- dump the water, stack the picopresso, then add fresh boiled water just before you start your shot
- Zero out the scale with your cup
- Start your timer
- Pump 12-13 times
- Wait 20 seconds
- Start pumping continuously keeping a solid flow, ideally with medium resistance
- For best shots, the shot-timer should reach 45-55 seconds when your weight reaches approximately 2x the weight of your grounds.
Cheers!
