Description

Making espresso is more than just a routine—it’s a ritual. A great workflow transforms the process from a task into an experience, where elegance, simplicity, and efficiency elevate every shot. After pulling over 1,500 shots with my Picopresso, I realized I needed a setup that worked seamlessly with my habits, not against them.

Nothing out there met my standards. I wanted a setup that was endlessly configurable, optimized for drying, and compact enough to print on an A1 Mini. So, I designed a Gridfinity-compatible organizer—one that seamlessly integrates into any workspace while keeping every part of my Picopresso accessible, dry, and ready for the next shot.

The solution: a modular set of three 2x2 Gridfinity tiles, each designed for a specific function—one for the Picopresso body, one for essential parts, and an optional tamp + funnel station. Whether you use one tile or all three, the system adapts to your workflow, ensuring everything is organized and drying efficiently.

3D Printing and Coffee

This video covers all the 3D-printing related projects I've been doing related to Coffee - including this one - and how they all work together.

Key Features

  • Maximal Configurability: Rotate each tile independently, change their order, or use any combination of one, two, or all three tiles to suit your specific needs.
  • Perfect Fit: each component fist perfectly in its slot
  • Optimized for Drying: The main body and parts tiles have dedicated drainage and air-flow channels to ensure your Picopresso dries quickly and efficiently.
  • Gridfinity Integration: Seamlessly fits into your existing Gridfinity setup, providing a cohesive and organized workspace.
  • A1-Mini Compatibility: Designed for seamless printing on the A1 Mini or any printer that can print a 2x2 Gridfinity tile. In fact all three tiles can be printed on one A1 Mini plate.
  • Minimalist Design: Focuses on essential components, keeping your workspace uncluttered and efficient.
  • Enhanced Drainage and Breathability: Ensures your Picopresso dries effectively between uses, maintaining optimal performance.
  • Tamp Station Integration:

Gridfinity Compatibility

This Gridfinity-compatible Picopresso organizer offers unparalleled flexibility within your workspace. Comprising a set of three 2x2 Gridfinity tiles, it allows you to:

  • Customizable Arrangement: Rotate each tile independently, change their order, or use any combination of one, two, or all three tiles to suit your specific needs.
  • Versatile Layouts: Configure the tiles in a linear 2x6 arrangement or as a 4x4 square, leaving additional space for other Gridfinity components.
  • Securely:  Each tile fits snugly and securely into any Gridfinity base. For enhanced stability and a more satisfying placement experience, and the tiles are magnet-ready, accommodating standard 6x2mm magnets in all four corners for even more secure footing.

Printing Notes

  • No supports are needed, HOWEVER, the Bambu slicer gives you a warning about "floating cantilevers". You can safely ignore that.
  • Weight: Approximately 30g per tile, so it won't use much filament.
  • Print time: About 1 hour per tile
  • Filament: I used standard black PLA.

  • Gridfinity was originally created by Zack Freedman – check out his original video for a deep dive into the system.
  • This design builds on the Gridfinity base specifications from this model by @MrRio, ensuring perfect Gridfinity compatibility.

Any gridfinity base will work. In the animation you'll see a “magnate-ready" gridfinity base - the first gridfinity base I every printed actually. In the youtube video you'll see what I currently use: a custom, non-rectangular ultra lightweight gridfinity base.
