Description

Remixed and re-uploaded work from DSNineteen's work on printables for his drive-in descending distance determinator. I was very excited to make this project to help determine how far I should pull in my car to give space for walking. But knowing how it be with little kids, having something hanging from your ceiling just means you will have kids hanging from your ceiling. So I love the idea of it getting out of the way when the garage door is closed.

 

The one issue I had with the original project is that it does not account for garages with low ceilings that make the horizontal distance greater than twice the vertical drop. So I remixed it to have two plates. One with two moving pulleys for a 2:1 run to drop and one with three moving pulleys for a 3:1 run to drop.

 

The design I have here uses printed bearings, but if you'd like something more robust, I listed the 608 bearings below. You will also need some kind of fastener to connect it to the ceiling. You'll also need some way to connect the rope to the garage door, but mine is just a simple carribeaner.
