Description

This is a model of a tripod that folds up into a cylinder when done. It maintains a decent height for the camera when in use, as opposed to being so low, or having to attach another piece onto a small tripod like this. It's under 2in (about 1.7in/44mm) in diameter, so it's quite handy to tuck into the side pocket of a camera bag.

Quick Instructions:

Assembly required using some M3x8, M3x5 screws. Assemble the tripod ‘legs’ onto the base first. Then assemble the ‘bottom locker’ into the ‘bottom twister’ through the main ‘body’ (note these are keyed so they lock together when installed). It should be free to rotate. Prepare the ‘top cap’ with the ¼-20 hardware required for mounting. Install the base+legs subassembly next, and then install the ‘top cap' subassembly.

The top part is meant for a ¼-20 female insert, with a ¼-20 screw installed from underneath to create the mounting point for the camera.

When in Use:

Make sure to lock the tripod in place when in use with the bottom dial. It should feel like it's tightening up. Otherwise the tripod will be unstable and the legs will collapse.

Caution:

Material used is  Bambu PETG (High Speed). I haven't tested the weight limit, but seems to support a smaller camera (~300g) as seen in the photo.

Future Improvements:

I haven't gotten around to designing “feet pads" for the tripod, that's for later.

I'm also thinking of making some adjustments later to make this more user-friendly.
