Modular LED Riser

Yes, another one. There are a lot already a lot of good risers out there - but I was not able to find the one that checked all my boxes. I used my vacation to build my own so it would perfectly fit my needs. Let me introduce you to my Modular Riser.

The design is kept simple and unintrusive and is separated into multiple parts, the base module sits flush on the edges of the P1S and looks like it was part of the original package. It only has a bit of tolerance to the sides of it. It has enough room to fit any LED Strip you want to a max width of 14mm, 12mm with installed Guards.

Base

Your journey begins with the base — the essential starting point. Everything beyond this is optional, providing flexibility in customization. The base is intelligently divided into several printable parts for seamless production. It encompasses the foundational frame, connectors, and a multi-functional lid, serving as both glare protection and a connector.

Left, Right, and Rear Channels

The standout feature of the riser lies in the unique channels on its outer frame. Crafted for durability, these channels securely hold your modules without the need for screws or glue. Functioning as a versatile hangar/stand base for all modules, gravity effortlessly keeps them in place. The angled sides provide an added layer of security, preventing any unwarranted slips or dislodgments.

Front Plate

The front plate boasts a dual purpose — not only does it serve as a connector for the two front parts, but it also provides an opportunity for customization. Add your logo, infuse some color to match your style. If your preferences change, simply replace it.

USB Passthrough

Discover added convenience on the back of the riser with a USB passthrough hole for routing cables to the rear. When it's time to seal the opening, use the available plug to keep the air securely within the build chamber.

Assembly

Included Modules:

AMS Holder

Designed for simplicity, the AMS Modules effortlessly slide into place—no screws, no glue. Just rely on gravity for a secure fit. You can also adjust the brackets within the slot, ensuring the AMS on top is in the optimal position for easy filament refill or maintenance.

IKEA Skadis Holder

For a seamless installation, effortlessly slide the brackets into the sides of the base, using your existing IKEA Skadis Screws to securely hang it on your preferred side. The force of gravity ensures a stable hold, providing confidence in organizing your space.

Should you desire a change, relocation is a breeze. Simply remove the mounting brackets at any time, offering the flexibility to customize your setup to meet your evolving needs.

Guards

The guards are streamlined clips that seamlessly slot into the inner LED strip channel. Their purpose is twofold: preventing accidental falls into the build area in case of adhesive failure and assisting in cable management when needed.

    - Added a shim to support the AMS 2 Pro.
    - The main Profile is now split up, to better support modules, in preparation for the AMS2Pro Module Version

After some considerations, discussions, and prints with @neoblack, we decided that especially with PETG 2 walls and 15% infill with Gyroid does provide more than enough stability. So it was reduced in the print profile from 4 walls to 2 walls and 20% infill to 15% to avoid wasting unnecessary filament and save some printing time.

Let me start by saying I LOVE this design. I'd chosen it even before I'd got my printer! Minimalistic, well thought out, modular and the way you've presented the information is second to none! I do have one minor issue and that is the way the AMS holder fits to the AMS. It's very sturdy and printed great but my initial thought was that they had changed the design of the AMS slightly as it didn't quite fit correctly. That was until I've just read through all the comments and looked closer at everyones photos (including your original ones) and realised it's the same! The problem is that the bottom of the AMS doesn't fit flush with the top of the AMS holder because of the strengthening ribs between the inner and outer sections catching on the top of the holder and because of this didn't feel quite sturdy enough. I've 'modified' my print and it now fits beautifully so if the original drawing could be changed to add a notch for the rib on the AMS it would be perfect! UPDATE - I've modified the STEP file to add the necessary notches if anyone would like this. I've done a test print of the top half to see how it fits and it's perfect.

I really love this LED Riser and I would like to share another module that I have recently created for it. It is a side mount spool holder module that is compatible with following spindles. 1, The simple spindle that came with the original P1S package. 2, Voron Style spindle I just modified (uses PFTE as roller). 3, The AMS Lite spindle came with A1 mini.

Thanks, your model is amazing 🤩 Another thought, as the side spool holder on the left, I like mount a IKEA Skadis on the right, and here is the thing, like many people, I pushed AMS all the way to the back (that why my spool holder is 90mm width), so no place for the 2nd IKEA Skadis Holder on the right side. Maybe you should consider just integrate a Skadis mounting hold near the back edge of AMS Holder Module (make it optional), so one individual IKEA Skadis Holder Module will do. When I have time maybe I can try it myself first :)

Thanks for this beautiful riser and AMS holder! Finally, I got some light in my printer and see everything inside. Sadly, I can also see all the dust! Used the Skandis holder to fit the popular honeycomb wall. I also modified the AMS Holder as already mentioned in the comments and published as remix. With this mod, I got a very nice and flush fit of the AMS. I printed it in the same orientation and with the same parameters as you. Printed everything beneath the glass from ABS in Black/Red and the AMS holder in PETG. Feel free to use these files if you want. Viele Grüße aus Stuttgart ;)

@user_3223809970 Since I too would print the riser out of ABS, did you make any scaling adjustment to the base to account for the ABS shrinkage? And if not, how is the fit to the printer and between the parts? If you did make scaling adjustments, would you please share the Scale value that you used? Big Thanks!

So I had to take the files into fusion and leave everything the same scaling I think then change the size of the "nubs". I'll see if I can upload it as a profile if I can find it again.

Hey, I've also thought about putting a plate underneath. Have you tried whether it makes a difference to put the vibration damping mat under the concrete slab I watched the video by CNC Kitchen about it a while ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y08v6PY_7ak

Printed with PETg matte, fit was perfect, just had to sand down edges where on edges printer over extruded/compensated, and when it was perfectly flat surface it just slided like it was straight from factory. Also I have lowered AMS handles as I'm too lazy and so I would not need to rearrange shelves again. Everything is just perfect. Added 5v cob LEDs and connected internally to USB, and now everything looks like it was manufactured that way +better light +glass relieved from ams weight

Could I get the model for your lowered AMS handles? I've had to move my printer up and the current ones are just too tall now. My lid never opens that high anyway. I guess I could just cut out the middle bit in the slicer...

Made some small remixes. The plug received a cable hole, so I can route the usb cable to the outside, and still plug the hole. The small clamps got modified, so there is now a little piece to lightly press on the led strip. I had the problem that the adhesion of the strip wasn't so good one some part. And i reduced the width to 5mm from 10mm. I removed infill and top/bottom surfaces. And printed with 1 and 2 walls. With 1 wall was very light and flexible, but still resistant. It was holding well, but the upper part was a bit to flexible for my taste. So I used the one with two walls, which was just perfect. Solid fit and very good grip. Here is the remix: https://makerworld.com/en/models/466265#profileId-37522

Prints well and plenty strong enough but found the parts very tight to fit together.
