Mini House - NFC

Unlock your home network with a single tap. Mini House is a tiny printed cottage that hides an NFC tag inside its walls, so a guest only has to hold their phone against the little house to join your Wi-Fi, no password typed, no code read aloud. It prints in four sizes, XS, S, M, and L, from a fingertip miniature to a palm-sized doorstep piece, with the NFC tag housed in the M size. The file ships in a single-color version and a two-color version that sets a tiled roof against clean white walls.

Design & Concept

I designed Mini House to turn the awkward moment of sharing your Wi-Fi into a small ritual of welcome. The tag is not glued on afterward, it is sealed inside the walls during printing: the bundled 3MF includes a scheduled pause on the M size, so you drop the 26mm tag in and the print closes over it, leaving a clean facade with no visible electronics. Each wall carries an engraved door and window drawn in a fine woodcut line style, and the roof is textured like rows of clay tiles. The two-color file keeps the body white and lets the roof carry the accent, the way a real house reads from the street.

Key Features:

• Tap to Connect: An embedded NFC tag shares your Wi-Fi with a tap, so guests connect without ever seeing the password.
• Hidden Tag: The tag is sealed inside the walls during a scheduled print pause, leaving a clean exterior with nothing to glue or hide.
• Four Sizes: XS, S, M, and L print from the same family, from a fingertip miniature to a palm-sized statement piece. The M size holds the NFC tag.
• Two-Color / AMS Ready: A single-color version for a quick print, plus a two-color version that sets a colored roof against white walls.
• Engraved Facade: Door and window are drawn in a fine woodcut line style, giving each tiny wall a hand-illustrated character.
• Tiled Roof Texture: The roof is modeled as rows of clay tiles that catch the light and read as a real rooftop even at this scale.

Hardware Required:

• NFC Tag: 1x round NFC tag, 26mm diameter, embedded in the M size during the print pause. Encode it with your Wi-Fi credentials using any free NFC writer app.

Printing Recommendations:

Body (Walls):

• Material: PLA, white recommended for the walls.
• Infill: 10-15%, Grid pattern.
• Supports: Enable Support on build plate only.

Roof:

• Material: PLA in an accent color for the two-color version, red, black, or brown work well against the white body.

NFC Print Pause (M size):

• Follow the 3MF: The bundled M-size 3MF includes a scheduled pause. Do not skip it. When the printer stops, set the 26mm NFC tag into the recess, then resume so the print seals over it.

Assembly

1. Print the M size using the bundled 3MF with its scheduled pause enabled.
2. When the print pauses, place the 26mm NFC tag flat into the recess.
3. Resume the print so the walls close over the tag.
4. Encode the tag with your Wi-Fi network name and password using a free NFC writer app, then tap your phone against the house to test it.
