Description

Simple and easy AMS Helper System. The design attachs directly to the first stage feeders filament intake.

Before you print:

  • I´ve got feedback, that the size of the first stage feeder port varrys. If you have the larger Port than you should use the print profile for the larger one. (Larger means 3,1mm in height instead of 3mm)

Advantages (i have noticed):

  • No wear out of the grey filament intake port of the first stage feeder
  • Fixed filament retraction problem where the filament gets all over the AMS
  • Reduced horizontal stress on the first stage feeder
  • Fixed spool hopping when filament gets low

Assembly:

  • Just stick a PTFE tube into the clip and slide it on the first stage feeder.
  • Optional put a bit of glue in the hole before sticking the ptfe tube in to prevent slipping out

Notes:

  • I use 9cm long PTFE tubes. Maybe the optimal length is different… (Update 18.2: Trying 9cm tubes instead of 13 cm)
  • This helper should also work with the Hydra AMS System
  • Check also out my PTFE Tube Protector: https://makerworld.com/en/models/234268

Installation on the AMS:

  • Here you can see how to install the EZ AMS Helper on the AMS. Just slide it on, don´t try to mount it from the top.

holds perfectly even without a hose, the filament runs cleanly through the AMS

as a suggestion for improvement: Could you add a bevel to the hole so that the filament doesn't drag on the edge of the hole.

printed great, but does not fit on my version (new) AMS. It may just be tolerance of my printer and not necessarily a fault of the model.

It fits very tight to ensure it does not slip off. My AMS is two months old... Please let me know if i can support u

I will try again if I get an error, but as I said, it may just be my print tolerance.. as I didn't want to force it and break anything fitting them...

I´ve enhanced the models description with an installation video. Nevertheless, maybe you can give me the exact measures of your ams first stage feeders port. I would like to understand why it´s not fitting. I tried it with a brand new one...

Thanks a lot for your review. We´ve discovered that there are some tollerances with the first stage feeders intake height

I tried this with ABS, PLA and PETG - all models broke directly. Maybe I get something wrong but for me it doesn’t work at all.

Thats strange...have you tried the larger print profile? Maybe your feeder port is one of the bigger ones
