Description

Where to put all those gummi bears Josef keeps sending us? This is the perfect container that prints-in-place and with no added supports. It uses some clever trusswork to help handle the extreme bridging across the interior. It does have a couple of built-in supports on either side of the sliding door, but those pop out easily.

Note: This is an update of my earlier Snack Bin. I've modified the truss work to make it print more cleanly, and also changed the exterior decoration to make it print faster.

Printing
I printed this in PLA with 0.2mm layers. It's actually pretty forgiving - I've printed it down to 80% scale. (Don't go smaller or the walls will get too thin, and going larger may mess up the print-in-place gaps.) You'll want to slow down the bridging speed to make sure the trusses adhere to the edges. I just slowed down the whole print when I got to the top bridging section.

After printing, first break away the outer cover over the door. Then press along the edges of the door to break it away from the rest of the box. (With just a little gently massaging, you should hear it crack away along the edges.) Keep at it until the door is free. Work the door open and closed until it operated smoothly. Fill with snacks.
