Stackable Christmas Cookie Tins: Christmas Townhouses with Dutch-Style Windmill on top

This is my biggest design yet - in terms of size, complexity and print time!

I've always loved the charm of Christmas Town-inspired decorations. Another sweet tradition of the holiday season is the use of Christmas Cookie Tins—it’s customary to bake a variety of cookies, especially gingerbread, and store them in these tins. My biggest inspiration for this design came from a stunning multi-layered cake my wife made, decorated with gingerbread cookies shaped like Canal House facades.

I wanted to merge these ideas into a decorative Christmas Town Tower that also serves as a functional cookie tin set. No longer do cookie tins need to be hidden away—this set doubles as eye-catching decor! And no longer is a decorative town merely a glowing ornament; it’s useful too. Whether as a centerpiece, a thoughtful present, or even a festive gift box, this design has something for everyone.

This Christmas Cookie Tin Tower is guaranteed to draw attention and spread holiday cheer wherever you place it!

Design Details

The containers (level 1, 2 and 3) are stackable with the windmill doubling as a lid for the topmost level. The stackable design means you can print only level 3 with the windmill and level 3 houses and have great decor with some storage (perfect for candies). All the containers can hold quite a lot and even I was surprised how many cookies they can hold!

Depending on your preference you can choosLevel 1-3: PLA Galaxy Green (container base)

Windmill Top: PLA Galaxy Green bottom and then Matte Latte Brown for walls and Basic Cocoa for the roof of the windmill

Windmill Rotor: PLA Silk Gold

Houses: PLA Silk Gold for the trim and use any Christmas Colors for houses themselves!e to print:

• Full Set: Total height: 37cm – Includes Levels 1, 2, and 3, plus the windmill topper.
• Medium Set: Total height: 25cm – Includes Levels 2 and 3, plus the windmill topper.
• Small Set: Total height: 16cm – Just Level 3 and the windmill topper.

  • Level 1 (base): 170mm diameter, 11cm tall (internal diameter: 14cm, internal depth: 10cm)
  • Level 2: 140mm diameter, 8.5cm tall (internal diameter: 11cm, internal depth: 7.5cm)
  • Level 3: 110mm diameter, 6.5cm tall (internal diameter: 9cm, internal depth: 5.5cm)
• Windmill: 8cm tall (with 5mm base), rotor wingspan: 11cm
• Houses:
  • Level 1: 4.6cm wide, 10cm tall, 4mm thick
  • Level 2: 3.7cm wide, 8cm tall, 3.5mm thick
  • Level 3: 3cm wide, 6.4cm tall, 2.7mm thick

Assembly Instructions

The windmill rotor can be easily inserted into the hole in the windmill roof after which it can spin freely.

The houses should be glued to the walls of the appropriate level base container. Ensure there is a slight gap between the houses when attaching them.

Printing Recommendations

I've optimized the print profile for minimal waste as well as minimal amount of spool changes for printing house facades. Adjust the colors to ones you like and feel the most festive to you (especially houses)!

Christmas Sparkle Color recommendation: If you've bought PLA Sparkle Bundle, replace Silk Gold, Maroon Red, and Galaxy Green with Sparkle Classic Gold, Sparkle Crimson Red, and Sparkle Alpine Green for that Christmas Sparkle feel!
