Reusable Bambu Spool with Internal Filament Clips

My primary design objectives for this spool were Ease of Use, Durability, and Aesthetics.

I regularly had issues with other locking mechanisms so I made my own, specifically designed for 3D printing. A simple screw thread with 50° sides ensure no defects while printing, 0.25mm tolerance between male and female ends eliminate slipping or jumping, and 4 inset bubbles with matching holes provide a simple yet robust lock when fully closed.

To latch closed, simply match the two halves, screw together about ¼ turn clockwise until it tightens, then turn 3° more until you feel a solid click.

The rim of the spool contains 8 internal filament clips per side, keeping the filament end inside the spool and reducing chance of kinking. The weight of the spool with and without the cardboard insert is listed on the exterior for precise measurements. There are also two filament clips in the base of the spool to allow respooling. All three of these features were inspired by creator Rossero's spool design.

Exterior dimensions are identical to the default Bambu spool so it works great with the AMS Light and should work fine on the AMS.

It is lighter and faster to print then the default spool, but if either of those are your main concerns, there are better options out there, possibly check out Rossero's excellent ‘Bambu Refill Spool’.

Due to the complexity of the first layer, please ensure your print bed is clean, and if printing with PETG, either use glue or set initial layer bed temp to 85°.
