Description

[Update! I updated the print profiles to give two options for printing the base. Someone had pointed out how rough the top looks with their silk filament. What a shame! There's now two options for printing the base. You can print it flat, as before, or print it at an angle for a much smoother looking top surface.

The angled version has a cut off the back side so it can sit on the plate at an angle. It is setup with a brim to help it stick extra so! I left the original in there for propserty sake. I wasn't sure if everyone would want the angled version, although I'd personally recommend it. There is a notch out, but it's hardly noticeable once assembled, and overall looks much better printed that way.]

A simple headphone stand. You'll have to rotate the stand so it lays flat! (This is done already in the provided print profiles)

There's 2 versions included.

  1. There's the original 2 part version, which is the stand and base.
  2. There's an updated 3 part version for smaller print beds, that uses m3 screws to secure it together.

perhaps it was the silk I was using but using designer settings for this print I got a pretty rough top layer. I'm guessing adaptive layer height should probably be turned on but it wasn't printing direct from app

Hey. Good call on the adaptive layer height. I'm going to adjust the print profile to have it on by default for the base. I've always printed this thing in white, so the layer lines on the top surface never stood out to me so much, but I can see with that silk filament it's a different story!

also does not help that I'm using tri-layer silk so it pops even more!

I did a few test with variable layer height. I don't think it'd be good enough for a filament like the one you're using. I'm doing a test print now, of a different approach. It has the stand printed at an angle, instead of flat, so we don't get any of that plateauing. I just split part of the base off so I can stick it to the bed at an angle. We'll see how the test goes, it's got a hourish still. It's an interesting looking filament, from the shot you posted. So I'm keen to get a setup that lets filaments like that shine!

Amazing, dipped mine in black epoxy to hide the layer lines (but could have done a better job lol). Thanks for a great model 😁

Printed on X1C - came out really nice. Bambu Tough yellow hanger with Bambu royal purple sparkle base - I printed the base on the angle and didn't need/use supports. Holds my Sony monitors perfect. (Glued the base)
