Description

Tie Winder - A Necktie Travel Case.

Use Tie Winder to keep your neckties organized and wrinkle-free when traveling.

_______________________________

Introducing: Tie Winder 3.0

This version has been rebuilt from the ground up and incorporates user feedback into the design.

This new version includes:

  • Thicker main tube for more rigidity
  • Simplified two-piece design for easier, tool-free assembly.
  • A much larger gripping surface on the winder peg as initially designed by PeGys
  • An optional travel lid which increases compression strength and acts as a dust cover for storage.
  • New CC Attribution License: You can use this design commercially, and freely remix the design with attribution.

As always, your feedback is welcomed, and informs future updates.

Assembly: As before, a good amount of force is required to snap the winder peg into the mating piece. It may help to start at an angle, with one side of the snap-ribs seated first.

Usage instructions:

  • Fold the tie in half, leaving the wider end about 4 inches longer.
  • Insert the fold into the slot in the center peg and out the front opening.
  • Wind the hand winder forward until the tie is completely inside the center tube.
  • To remove, simply pull the tie out of the large side opening.

Skinny version - 62g PLA jade white in 2h9m. the top used 20g in 0h34m. Can you add the 4 picture example from the original to this version, instead of ppl going to that page. edit: 2 reg tie - 169g PLA Matte Sakura Pink in 5h5m on A1.

Very simple print, yet so useful and works very well.

I travel alot for work, and like to wear a different tie every day. This helps with packing so much and not creasing the ties. I just wish there was a slightly thinner (half thickness) on the winder handle.

Thanks for your feedback. If you can clarify which dimension you're referring to, I might be able to mock something up. Do you mean you want the vertical thickness or the circumference of the winder handle to be smaller?

Oh hey, I was meaning the vertical thickness. But certainly don't go out your way to do something like this. It's only actually because I use the friction of my palm on the base to turn and not the "finger slots" on the cog. So it's only a miniscule space saving. And since they stack perfectly, it only really matters to a single unit.

Ok gotcha. That would be something you could modify in the slicer if you use it on a desktop computer. Use the cut command and trim off the bottom 4mm or so, and you'd be good to go. If you're on mobile only or not familiar, I will upload a modified one for you. Oh and you're the first to comment about the hidden stacking feature ;)

Strength Issue:The “tie-mount” piece having only 2 walls, combined with the infill type, unfortunately makes this part *extremely* fragile. Just be super careful and only handle the part by it’s base, ensuring you don’t touch the tie ‘pillars’ (either by hand, or by accidentally putting force on them during assembly)

Thanks for letting me know about the issue. I'll adjust the print profile to make that part stronger. I didn't have any issues when assembly or handling mine, and I stress-tested them quite a bit by removing and reinstalling them which required pushing on the prongs, but it could be a difference in filament layer adhesion. (Edit: It's been updated)
