Description

AMS Lite Rotating Stand for A1

After extensive design and testing, the Rotating AMS Lite Stand for the A1 is finally here! This stand improves stability, preventing tipping, and rotates for easy spool access.

During the design process, I found a top-only mount caused the A1 to tip backward and twisted the top support bar under the AMS Lite’s weight. The solution was to build a supportive leg and position the AMS Lite on top it.

Features:

  • Fully 3D printable—no extra parts needed.
  • Enhanced stability for the A1 printer.
  • Rotation for quick spool changes.
  • Smooth, snag-free operation during use.

Instructions:

  1. Print and assemble this model

  2. Go to my A1 Mini AMS Lite Rotating Top Mount Vertical Stand project and print the ‘Rotating Holder’ part.

  3. Once printed, unscrew the original AMS Lite base from the AMS Lite unit and replace it with the newly printed ‘AMS Lite Holder’.

That’s it! You now have a fully functional AMS Lite Vertical Rotating Stand for the A1. Enjoy!

Attention: Ultimate Spool Enclosure users

While I do not have the ultimate spool enclosure, some other users have created add-on solutions which may help with compatibility using that enclosure system.

Does the author have any ideas for adding a rotating mechanism to the official stable mount? It's a shame to remove it as it's already installed

It has been modified. I thickened the pillars, increased the height and the back distance, but it may require more printing time and materials.

Rotating AMS Lite Stand for A1
Summation: Good idea that works well. I never really cared for the top mounts, so this a great alternative. I wouldn't hesitate to throw an extra perimeter at the print profile. I replied to this comment in more detail (due to comment word count) - see below.

Pros: Frees up workspace, and just 'works'. No additional hardware, fully printed. Concerns: Limited, the spools rub the ams holder just a tad you can see when fully inserted they are at an angle ( I highly doubt this will be an issue ). Suggestions: The base works, but what this model really needs is some surface work. I mean this in the most kind way possible. I love the innovation, but the base just feels unfinished. Edit: Grammar

Hey mate. See my comment a little further down regarding the shims I printed and installed on 1 & 4 spool springs to resolve the rubbing issue. Cheers.

Thank you for the model! It came out nice! I used PETG-CF and mirrored the object to fit it on the left side.

Great, much better (and more stable) than the top mounted one. I have to reprint my upside down numbers, though 1/5!! Only joking, 11/10 if I could! 🙃

Hilarious comment. Thank you for making me smile this morning! There are some extension cables available that would make it possible to mount the AMS in the correct orientation. https://amzn.to/3V0iWkn For whatever reason Bambu doesn't sell these directly.

print came out great, everything mounted perfectly. If you have the ultimate enclosure, it will hit the top of the A1. I took of the enclosure for now. I was afraid of it swaying a lot but it is pretty stable.

Thank you for the boost, comment and posting pictures of the stand. I really do appreciate it.If there is enough interest, I may investigate modifications to this design to accommodate the spool enclosure.

Hi, looking for the best way to mimise space taken up by my AMS, but I need the dry box. How does it hit? Is it just one side that hits? any ideas for a modification to solve?

The 2 spools at the bottom hit the top of the printer when rotated. It will fit if you do not rotate it. if you want to keep the rotating function, you would need to raise it or move it back.

This print is a must for anyone who uses the AMS like top mount on your A1. The print on a single plate which is great and I modified the middle stack in the scale and only adjusted the Z axis and increase the height to 235 mm. This gave clearance from sports hitting the machine when rotating it works as a stabilizer as well if you printed the AMS top mound from Bambu lab. I have this thing so far a week old and have no issues whatsoever. Having a full glass enclosure would make this obsolete.

Thanks for the positive feedback and pictures. I noticed your AMS Lite is inserted backwards. This can lead to the ams lite slipping inside the ushaped holder. Just flip it around so the 'FRONT' part is aligned with the FRONT of the AMS lite and not the back where the power cable attaches. Cheers!

I took the screw out of the side and inserted it into the screw opening on the cradle. It’s solid. I’m ordering the extension cable today and then will mount it correctly

Is it fit with ams cover? Or you change profile?

Hoping someone can help. I have printed the file but when it goes to home the Z axis hits the bracket that secures the nut. Did I do something wrong? as it is I cannot calibrate my machine with this attached.

here you go you can see it touching. I have cut out the lip on the bottom of the outside stand. I think I need to cut just a small clearance for the inside so the black z rail does not hit it. thoughts?

Is this black part removable? What is its purpose? I'm thinking this may be an original piece that stabilized the printer during shipping that can safely be removed?
