Description

I wanted to place my bambu labs printer in a corner. all other spool holders were either in the back of the unit or on the left side which means you need around 20cm clearance to get the spool on and takes up valuable room so i created one that goes on top which makes it neat.

✔ it is strong. on my p1s unit it goes into four existing screw holes. (i measured as acurately as i could although i still make things on tinkercad as i'm still a bit of a beginner☺)

✔ allows removal of glass (although will need to be modified using glass riser)

✔ fits the contour of the unit around the side. i drilled a little hole for a screw and if you want to drill a new hole for the screw it would be even more secure.

  1. there are different models some with the original spool holder to attach others so you can put your ball bearing spool holders. (i put what i used in there as i had it from previous machine so it is an m10 bolt but you don't have to use that)
  2. you don't need to print any supports. just use a screwdriver to pop out the little circular covers on top of the screwholes.
  3. i used 27mm screws (25mm) without the head. i had to chop one screw which was the one which is furthest to the right side when looking at the back of the machine. you will see when you try it if it gets stuck
  4. it prints as one peice should be at 45 degrees
  5. i used pla hard as it came with my machine, 0.2mm layer thickness 3 walls 4 top & bottom layers and 25% infill but you can mess around
  6. i have included a two types of couplers one screw in and one just push fit to join the ptfe. the ptfe goes through a wall in the spool holder see pics. there is less resistance if just using a longer ptfe which is better
  7. if printing my ball bearing contraption the little peice which goes into the bearing needs to be printed in arachne
  8. if you want the unit to go right up to the wall on the side just cut off the right side. there is an option in bambu studio to use cut. it is quite simple
  9. The photo shows it slightly covering the tension tighteners, but that was the one i printed. the files here have that bar moved over so it doesn't cover it
